More than Money (targeted age group from 8 to 12 years old) DEA Programs

Students learn about ways to earn and consciously spend, share, and save money in a responsible way. Students go through the types of businesses they can start or jobs they can explore in their future. Working individually and in groups, students make financial decisions and learn to identify businesses they can start or jobs they can do to earn money.

Overview

-        Recognize the importance of money management in making informed life decisions.

-        Build on their understanding of money basics and apply that learning to their daily lives.

-        Develop students’ understanding of the relationship between what they learn at school and their future participation in the economy.

Objectives

-        Introduce economics and business concepts to students.

-        Emphasize social studies content while providing a strong focus on mathematics, reading, and writing skills.

-        Encourage students to use innovative ways to learn money-management skills that develop positive attitudes.

-        Identify students’ personal skills and interests, while exploring businesses and future careers. Reinforce students’ money management skills learned throughout the program.
